It is a reasonable response to this fucked up world and you don't need to hide or deny it."  That's what makes this anti-depression guide so great.  It doesn't treat depression like a disease that needs to be hidden and suppressed with the latest trend in drug therapy.  Instead, it offers fun, real-life advice from someone who had dealt with depression.

NeuFutur Magazine

"Doris is one of those magazines that has been around since I first got into the creative zinemaking process. It still stands as a high water mark that I could only wish to aspire to. This issue of Doris represents a reprint of materials from about a decade ago, and while there has been a significant amount of time that has passed, a great deal of the information here still works well. The hand-drawn style of this anti-depression themed issue is very inviting, blending hand-drawn articles with simple (but still compelling) drawings.

Perhaps the best pieces in this issue would have to be the listing of helpful herbs regarding the sub-titled topic (showcasing the use of Peppermint, Damiana, and Gotu Kola among others in alleviating some depression). While the advise to get free medical healthcare (falsifying information or not paying bills) may have worked better in 1999 than 2010, the step by step methods for how to reduce UTI pain is absolutely stellar. The issue goes into personal jags, but these pieces still represent honest efforts to provide information to Doris’ readers. By all means, make sure to pick up this (and any other available) issues of Doris. It acts as a proper blueprint for which other zines should look to build off of. "

410Media

"Every one suffers a little depression at some time in their life, but because we are taught that it is embarrassing and we should keep it quiet we keep it to ourselves. Cindy Crabb will have none of that. In this great little zine/booklet she describes real life advice from someone who isn't afraid to admit her depression. Thank you Cindy."

Very Hipster Scum

"This one really hit close to home and truthfully I don't know how entertaining it would be for someone that hasn't gone through depression but boy was this one fantastic. I was at first reluctant to pick it up because it was so obviously a zine bound at home by some unknown artist with scraggly writing and equally scraggly drawings but thank god I did. Cindy Crabb is a wonderful angsty writer that I loved reading. I liked her take on the disease and the way she didn't try to forcefeed the same old bullshit I hear all the time on staying calm and blah blah blah. real advice for real people."
