All of these organisations have qualified health professionals who’ll ensure you receive high-quality counselling, assessment, treatment and medication – while maintaining your confidentiality.
Will anyone find out about my abortion?
No – you can have completely confidential abortion treatment, whether it’s NHS or privately-funded. And you don’t have to see your GP to access abortion treatment if you’d prefer either. You can self-refer, which means that even if your abortion is NHS-funded, it’s your decision whether your treatment information is sent to your GP or goes on your medical record. You can self-refer by calling Marie Stopes UK anytime on 0345 300 8090 (24 hrs).
If your GP refers you for an abortion, this will go your medical record.
