Musings on a Tree

“As I stare out of the window, a vast empty space stretches before me. Suddenly, without this tree, which provided me with cover and privacy in this urban conglomerate, I feel exposed. The car traffics thronging on th nearby four-lane road is no longer obscured by the dense mass of branches and foliage. Across this newly formed sterile expanse, I can, for the first time, clearly see the red brick building on the opposite side of the field. Beyond the building, gleaming high-rises boasting more than forty floors and a myriad of tower cranes, tower above and leer down with their metallic gazes.”
